Big Hair Don't Care: Texture to Fall For

by Lyv Martin

So this past weekend I did a shoot with my hair stylist, Lindsey Crider at Capelli Salon.  Lindsey wanted to capture more of a boho chic vibe with a lot of texture and a few pops of color.  The way she achieved this texture was actually very easy and user friendly for everyone.  Let's start from the beginning!

For the bottom half of my hair Lindsey used a Paul Mitchell crimper.  DON'T EVEN ACT LIKE YOU DON'T LOVE A GOOD CRIMP!!!!  Perhaps you want to ease your way back into the crimp phase, don't fret my pet.  A great option would be a ponytail with maybe just a piece or two crimped for an added texture.  However, our thought process on this day was go big or go home.

The top portion of my hair was broken up into sections that were wrapped in the shape of a figure eight around large bobby pins.  After the hair was wrapped around the bobby pin she would take a flat iron and clamp the hair down the bobby pin to set the funky crimp look.

When we took the bobby pins out of the top sections of my hair it naturally became full without having to tease.  The crimped under sections we teased up to fill out the flow of fullness.

For the final look we tied a boho head piece to polish off the look with a little coral hair chalk for an extra pop of color.  Experimenting with different textures is a fantastic way to switch up your look this season without making permanent changes to your hair!  So give it try!  Lindsey found a lot of her inspiration for this look on Pintrest.  Work a few crimped sections into a rockin pony tail or mixed in with a messy body wave.  Don't be afraid to be different because this texture is something to Fall for!

P.S.

HAVE YOU MISSED ME?!  I've been a little silent lately!  Life has been a crazy unpredicable adventure.  Between friends getting married and family health issues I have been absent from writing and updating my site, but I still have SO much to share!!  In each of these adventures I have been on lately a fun fashion moment has come to light.  So get ready because  I am going to be telling you about my new FAV pants that were $10 from Dollar General and my current JAM, gold glitter Ked's by Kate Spade.
